Created in 2011, Gismap has been working in international development cooperation projects in Africa, Middle East and Latin America, being involved in projects funded by international organizations, NGOs and private companies in ten different countries to project planning and implementation according to “UN Sustainable Development Goals – SDGs

Emphasis is placed on data quality, to have, in output, high degree of accuracy, consistency coherence with the context, topicality, completeness and credibility, traceability.

Future challenges for food security and environment safeguarding require actions based on new, high impact technologies. These will be crucial to sustainably raise agricultural yields as well as the increase the resilience capacity and adaptation of farming systems to climate changes.

Gismap uses spatial analysis tools, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Global Positioning System (GPS), Remote Sensing (RS)e DBMS for data analysis and storage.

To ensure technical, economic, and capacity-building sustainability, geographic information is implemented in the Open Source environment



Gismap setup a “bridge of knowledge”, supported by Open Source ICT4D, between available resources in Agricultural and Environmental sectors and their sustainable use for the needs of development of poorest peoples according to local institutions and the SDGs for 2030



Our staff consists of Franco Bazzani, founder of Gismap, with a University degree in Agricultural Science, PhD in Mechanized Agriculture in Tropical and Subtropical countries and a Professional Master in Geomatics and Natural Resources Evaluation. He is member of Agronomist Association of Florence province, has been experience for more than 25 years in the sector of cooperation for development as international expert in Projects funded by Italian Cooperation, FAO, NGO , Foundation and private sector mainly in Eastern, Northern and Sub-Saharan Africa. He published 22 scientific articles.

Gismap has a pool of technical expertise for each sector of activity, having a wide experience in projects of international cooperation in developing countries, using GIS and Remote Sensing tools and DBMS Open Source.
